An Inconvenient Truth: A Left Critique and Discussion of Climate Change, Climate Justice and Al Gore's Market-Based Solutions
3rd Floor Auditorium
522 Valencia st.
San Francisco 3rd floor auditorium
Film showing and discussion with Jason Negrón-Gonzalez and Mateo Nube, from the Movement Generation Crossroads Project, which aims to link organizers and trainers in the Bay Area Racial and Economic Justice movements with ecological and environmental justice analyses and struggles.
While the message from Al Gore's An Inconvenient Truth, is to act "boldly, quickly and wisely" to stop the catastrophic impacts of global climate change, it's clear that Gore's analysis and solutions stop well short of doing away with the economic and political systems that have gotten humanity in this bind we're in today.
Join us for a viewing of An Inconvenient Truth, a discussion of the film and the importance of the left entering the terrain of climate justice while advocating for solutions towards dismantling imperialism.
About An Inconvenient Truth:
Director-producer Davis Guggenheim (HBO's "Deadwood") captures former Vice President Al Gore in the midst of waging a passionate campaign -- not for the White House, but for the environment. Laying out the facts of global warming without getting political, Gore makes a sobering impression on the audiences who hear his message in this Oscar-winning documentary.
"The film ultimately brings home Gore's persuasive argument that we can no longer afford to view global warming as a political issue - rather, it is the biggest moral challenge facing our global civilization."--official website for An Inconvenient Truth
$5-10 donation requested, no one turned away for lack of funds.
522 Valencia is not wheelchair accessible.
