WHO: The Blogfest is being produced by the Raise Hell for Molly Ivins Campaign (http://www.raisehellformollyivins.org) The Campaign was inspired by the words of Molly Ivins about the War in Iraq, in her last column before her passing. – “We are the people who run this country. We are the deciders. Raise hell…Hit the streets…We need people in the streets banging pots and pans and demanding END IT, NOW!”
PROGRAM: The Blogfest will feature continuous blogging by activist bloggers and the public. The evening’s program will also include an Interfaith Ceremony, a Labyrinth Walk for Peace, the announcement of the winner of “The Ballad of Molly Ivins” Songwriting Contest, a video retrospective of Molly Ivins’ life, a memorial “Molly Ivins Pledge” by the event’s participants to carry on Molly’s work to end the War in Iraq, and music and poetry performances. The entire event will be streamed live over the internet.
HOW: People can participate in the Blogfest by posting their comments to the activist blogs before, during, and after the event. They can also sign the Molly Ivins Pledge, and sign up to participate in the Raise Hell for Molly Ivins “Pots and Pans Protests” taking place at US Federal Buildings and citizen’s local Congressional Offices on the third Friday of each month. All of these actions are designed to demand that your Congressional Representatives & Senators in Congress end the War in Iraq now and prevent an attack on Iran or lose at the ballot box. The “Pots and Pans Protests” are held on the third Friday of each month to coincide with the monthly events of the Iraq Moratorium.
TICKETS: Tickets are $10.00 with no one turned away for lack of funds. Tickets are available at the door beginning at 6PM.
