On Saturday January 19, 2008 the annual "Walk for Life" march in San Francisco were countered by people who believe in Pro-choice for all women. This year marks the 35th anniversary of Roe V Wade, and that landmark ruling by the US Supreme Court has sparked a continuous and sometimes emotional debate ever since....
Warren E Burger was Chief Justice at the time...
It seems this may become a San Francisco tradition because both sides are unrelenting, and it appeared the pro-lifers outnumbered the pro-choice crowd, and the anti-abortionists have vowed to return next year.
The pro-choicer' were loud and proud, and it seems the pro-lifers show hints of oppression, and continue to use ridiculous symbolism. The anti-abortionists do not appear to be trying to educate anyone who opposes their beliefs, as they just use horrible signage, praying, and songs.

Fighting for a women's right to choose has always been an uphill battle, but at least they're will always be people who will fight for the right to make our own choices.
Unfortunately the religious right preaches against abortion therefore further alienating a class of people who could believe in God, but choose not to, because religion appears oppressive and male dominated.

Contrary to the lies stated by Democratic Assemblyperson Mark Leno at the pro-abortion rally, these are not outsiders. They were organized by the San Francisco Catholic Church and people came from Bay Area counties, including San Francisco, to this anti-women, anti-gay, anti-science march, all using abortion as a smokescreen for building a fascist base in San Francisco. The SF Democratic Party machine's police protected not the pro-abortion crowd, which was local and needed protection from the fascists, but the anti-abortion crowd which was both local and from the Central Valley, to the tune of $80,000 a year and up plus benefits, all paid for with our tax dollars while San Francisco has budget problems. Clearly, what we need to do is eliminate the police department and give that money to funding abortion and birth control clinics next to every public high school and college in San Francisco, providing abortion and birth control free of charge, with a bowl of free condoms on the reception table for the boyfriends and husbands. This would be a good pilot program for the rest of the country to have the same: free abortion and birth control clinics next to every public high school and college with free condom distribution at these clinics too. Abortion has now been criminalized in the last trimester as of 2007 in Gonzales v. Carhart. The Democratic Party is welcoming the anti-abortion fascists thugs and idiots to their reactionary capitalist party who are not already there. Senator Majority Leader Harry Reid is anti-abortion; Democrat Dennis Kucinich has an anti-abortion record while now claiming to be pro-choice, so as to divert the pro-abortion people from the only two parties which are pro-abortion: Peace & Freedom (and all other socialist parties in this country) and the Green Party. You have to vote for the pro-abortion parties if you want abortion to continue to exist in this country. Otherwise, we will soon be like Ireland and Mexico where abortion is illegal as the US Supreme Court that decided Gonzales v. Carhart is still with us and will not get better soon. They are: Anti-Abortion=Chief Justice Roberts, Alito, Kennedy, Scalia Thomas. Pro-Abortion=Breyer, Ginsburg, Souter, Stephens. It will not be long before abortion is illegal again in this country if the current refusal to show up for our pro-abortion marches and refusal to vote for pro-abortion parties continues. I suppose then the millions will howl, and at that point, it will be more difficult to restore abortion, which should be free and on demand, with no restrictions whatsoever.

HEALTH-MEXICO: Abortion No Longer a Crime in Capital
By Diego Cevallos

MEXICO CITY, Apr 24 (IPS) - The Mexico City legislature voted Tuesday to legalise abortion, after several weeks of heated debate in which conservative groups and the Catholic Church traded insults with pro-choice activists and threatened them with excommunication.

Mexico City has now joined Cuba and Guyana as the only places in Latin America where abortion is legal.

The bill must now be signed into law by Mexico City Mayor Marcelo Ebrard of the leftwing Democratic Revolution Party (PRD), who said he would do so quickly. The new law will make abortion on demand legal in the city in the first 12 weeks of pregnancy.
