An open invitation to cyclists and the Santa Cruz community:
There will be a memorial ride and ghost bike construction to celebrate the life and mourn the death of Lucian Gregg who was killed while riding his bicycle last Wednesday, January 2, 2008. Please meet at the Hub for Sustainable Transportation (also the Bike Church) at the corner of Spruce St and Pacific Ave, this Saturday January 12, 2008 by 2 PM. There will be a short, slow group ride through town, culminating near the site of the accicent at Jesse St and E. Cliff Dr, where we will put up a "ghost bike", a customary monument to acknowledge the death of a cyclist.
Thanks to those of you who offered to help with this event. Everyone can help by passing along this message via email, word of mouth, or however you see fit. Also, depending on the size of the group, we may need some experienced cyclists to help keep the group riding together and to direct traffic at intersections.
Helmets are strongly encouraged.
