People are being tortured while Americans are shopping!
Join World Can’t Wait this Friday and Saturday to say:
We will not live in a torture state!
Volunteers Needed
When: Friday, December 21 1PM-4PM AND Saturday, December 22 1PM-4PM
Where: Near Macy’s at Union Square, on Geary St. between Stockton and Powell in SF
What: Street Theater featuring orange-jumpsuited “detainees” and a real waterboarding device.
We will be distributing orange ribbons, bandanas, bracelets, buttons and t-shirts and calling on people to sign up and pledge their opposition to a regime that brazenly tortures, lies, and then destroys the evidence!
Why: Because, at a time when the question is being posed to millions of people in this country -- should the United States be a torture state or not? -- we want to be out there in a big way saying that torture is completely unacceptable . . . in fact, the whole direction the Bush regime has taken this country is unacceptable and must be reversed.
Protest at the Rose Parade on New Year’s Day
The WHITE ROSE COALITION, a broad grouping of organizations and individuals based mostly around the Los Angeles area, is calling for protest actions at this year’s Rose Bowl Parade, held as always, in Pasadena on January 1st. The Bay Area WCW chapter is making plans to carpool to join this action. If you are interested, please email your thoughts and your phone number to: sf [at] worldcantwait.org
NOTE: If you want to know more about the true story of the White Rose Society – a group of courageous German students who were anti-fascist activists against Hitler’s regime – go to:

Defend Women’s Right to Choose!
Every year near the anniversary of Roe v. Wade, the anti-woman, anti-choice “Walk For Life” descends on San Francisco to march 10,000 strong from Justin Herman Plaza into the streets, demanding an end to reproductive rights for women. And every year, a vocal coalition and mobilization led by the Bay Area Committee for our Reproductive Rights (BACORR) takes to the streets to counter-protest.
This January 19, once again the face-off over two different visions of women’s lives, of women’s freedom, and of the future facing ALL of us, will be in the streets. One difference this year: BACORR has secured a rally permit for Justin Herman Plaza. This effectively displaces the traditional “Walk for Life” rally, and it isn’t known as yet what their alternate plan will be – they always have marched down the Embarcadero, their numbers ballooned up by bussing in anti-reproductive rights church congregations from all over the west. It IS clear that the Justin Herman Plaza rally will this time belong to the groups and the people who defend women’s rights to choice.
World Can’t Wait is working with BACORR to make January 19th a bold and beautiful day with a powerful message of resistance. If you would like to get involved please contact WCW right away. Call: 415-864-5153, or email: sf [at] worldcantwait.org
MARK YOUR CALENDERS:

If this is a good thing, why is
bussing in anti-reproductive rights church congregations from all over the west.
sinister? Isn't it the same thing? Bringing in outside agitators?
