Impeachment Advocates Crush Server, But Still No Reports in the Corporate Media
Tue, 12/18/2007 - 16:10 — dlindorff

The push for hearings on Dennis Kucinich's Cheney impeachment bill (H Res. 799) continues, with the number of signers of Wexler's petition now topping 90,000. http://www.wexlerwantshearings.com/

The rush to sign on has been so heavy that on Monday it crashed the server. Rep. Robert Wexler's people have since changed to a better server, but in the process, there were some resets of the tally, which has led to a lot of concern and even to anxious conspiracy theories among impeachment backers. Wexler's office says there has been no problem with sabatoge, and that the current number, just over 90,000 as of 10:45 am Tuesday, is accurate. The list has been checked for duplicates and other signs of trouble, and looks clean, they say.

So impeachment advocates should continue to push for support for this call for action. Get people to the petition site and signed on.

But don't stop there.

To the Traitorous News Media,

I call you traitorous because the NEWS has seen fit to not cover the call for impeachment proceedings now underway against Vice President Dick Cheney. If he is guilty of stepping on the constitution, and you're attempting to help keep that information from the people, then you're guilty as well.

It is no secret that the media has all but blacked out any mention of the events that have taken place as of Friday Dec 14th and since. I have personally spoken to over 200 people about the push for impeachment hearings, telling them where to go to get more information, not you obviously, and asked them to spread the word.

You are creating your own demise, you know that don't you? The public doesn't trust you anymore, nor should they. You are supposed to report the news as it happens. You are traitors every bit as much as Dick Cheney because you've chosen to obfuscate by not airing the case against him, how he has misused his power, lead us into a pointless war, and illegal war, and how he manipulated intelligence information. If you do not cover the story, this story will cover you! YOU are aiding and abetting a man who sought to take away our civil liberties and to destroy the constitution. And that is what I am telling people.

Consider - if last Friday, had even one news agency carried the story of the three members of the house judiciary committee endorsing Dennis Kucinich's plea to begin impeachment proceedings against the Vice President it was met with such dismay that patrons were denouncing their customer loyalty in a loud an vocal way, then one could understand the other sources of news thinking twice about covering the topic. It wouldn't excuse you for not covering it, but we would at least understand it.

But none of you ever did. Oh, it was loud enough alright, on the internet. So much so that when those same members of the judiciary committee called for citizen signatures to demonstrate a willingness of the American people to move forward with impeachment, over the course of the weekend they acquired in excess of 90,000. They only needed 50,000, and still more pour in.

So, you see it is strange that the established media would shun the topic so much. It smacks of something vile and wrong with your institution, or your corporate sponsors perhaps. Most likely both!

What do you think your corporate sponsors would say to signs outside their corporate headquarters with picketters behind them? For starters, a group of about 90,000 people (I think I know of just the group) can easily contact everyone they know to spread the word via the virtual grapevine and tell them to do just that.

You have no idea just how pissed people are at the media right now! I have heard less restrained voices discussing more severe options. For the moment, at least, they are satisfied with the idea of a picketting. Besides the proper way to do things it also stands a better chance of hitting our targets where they hurt worst anyway, their reputation.

We are 100% volunteer and depend on your participation to sustain our efforts!
