October 21, 18 individuals were cited for disturbing the peace at a demonstration opposing UC Berkeley vivisection. 4 were taken to jail because they were "previous offenders" according to UCPD Detective Collom (though none had EVER been cited or arrested at a demonstration before.) The 4 taken to jail were released with a citation after two hours in custody. The other 14 were cited and released at the scene in El Cerrito, CA.
The demonstrators were trailed by 2 UCPD officers in an unmarked Prius who were clearly running the show and barking orders at the local El Cerrito cops. Detective Collom badge #45, in particular, made it clear that he's been watching this campaign and his goal is to kill it. He's been known to question people, telling them that to participate in residential demonstrations amounts to "stalking" and that "this activity has to cease."
All are set for court December 5 at 1pm in Superior Court at 100 37th ST in Richmond, CA. Please come out and show your support.
