Meet at 865 Market St., the entrance to the Westfield Shopping Center
On the Saturday before Thanksgiving, people in 16 countries and 17 states within the United States will participate in an international day of action against big box chain stories. We’re going to remind shoppers to vote with their dollars AGAINST worker rights violations, unsustainable distribution practices and the destruction of local independent businesses and FOR human rights, workers’ rights, respect for communities and the environment.
In San Francisco – where we’ve succeeded in keeping most big box stores out – we’ll take on two chain stores for their disrespect of workers at home and abroad. First we’ll flyer and picket at Bristol Farms, an upscale grocery store chain that is anti-union. Then we’ll head across the street to the Gap, which owns more than 3,000 stores worldwide, to protest the ongoing use of sweatshop labor by U.S. retailers.
Sponsored by Global Exchange and California Healthy Communities Network. For more information, contact Ruben Garcia, 415-279-3174, ruben [at] globalexchange.org.
