The Heads Up Collective presents
Televising the Revolution
a Radical Film Series at
El Rio, 3158 Mission St. @ Cesar Chavez, San Francisco
Tuesday, November 27th, 8:00 pm
A benefit for POWER! (People Organized to Win Employment Rights)
http://www.peopleorganized.org
Showing the film "Catch a Fire"
A political thriller: the real-life story of a South African hero's
journey to freedom. In the country's turbulent and divided times in the
1980s, Patrick Chamusso is an oil refinery foreman and soccer coach who is
apolitical - until he and his wife Precious are jailed. Patrick is stunned
into action against the country's oppressive reigning system, even as
police Colonel Nic Vos further insinuates himself into the Chamussos'
lives.
With Guest Speakers from POWER
Power is a multi-racial membership organization of low-income families and
workers, fighting to change the the economic and social systems that
exploit and oppress us. POWER's mission is to increase civic and political
participation amongst working-class communities of color to achieve
economic, racial and gender justice.
Part of an ongoing monthly series showcasing radical films and supporting
local organizing. Films are shown on the patio at El Rio every month.
Event is free, but donations accepted. Space is wheelchair accessible, but
bathrooms are not. 21 and over. For more information, please contact
