• Veterans of Conscience Day: Honoring those who Resist
Join us today in front of the Marine Recruiting Station as we honor the 40,000 troops have refused to fight in Iraq and Conscientious Objectors, several of whom live in our wonderful Bay Area!
We honor these vets along with previous veterans who have the courage to resist: Iraq Veterans Against War, Vets for Peace, Vietnam Vets for Peace.
This day, Veterans Day, used to be Armistice Day but we are reclaiming it as Veterans of Conscience Day! Recruiting Station, 64 Shattuck Square, Berkeley
This is part of CodePINK's ”How Berkeley Can U BE” month of actions in front of the Marine Recruiting Station
Actions continue (when YOU are there!) every week day 7:30a.m. until 5:00p.m. in front of the horrific recruiting station as the people of Berkeley hold on-going classes, breastfeeding playgroup for peace, circus acts, music and poetry, art installations. Hold your meetings, parties, book readings - anything that says "THIS is what we want in Berkeley: NOT the military recruitment of our youth"
Sign up TODAY! Call 510-524-2776 if you want to participate, whether it is to ‘bottom-line’ your own action or event; or to join an existing action/event.
Folks who are not able to stop by during the day, go by in the eve or morning and chalk the side walks, leave flowers & peaceful messages, create peace installations on the sidewalks, or in any other creative way express your desire to have the station SHUT DOWN before the Holidays!
Call daily 510-705-8060, speak with Mr. Lund or any other recruiter and ask them to honor the Mandate for Peace the citizens of Berkeley have instituted since before the invasion of Iraq.
Together we WILL shut down this recruiting station! Marines out of Berkeley; Marines out of Iraq
