Ancient Roots/ Urban Journeys: Expressions for Días de los Muertos Anjee Helstrup Alvarez, associate director/curator of Movimiento de Arte y Cultura Latino Americana (MACLA), is guest curator of the museum's 2007 Days of the Dead exhibition. This year's Días de los Muertos exhibition reveals a journey between ancient and urban expressions that connect people to an evolving cultural legacy. The artworks––created by artists, schools, and community groups––will range from traditional Oaxacan-style altars to current interpretations that connect to ancient forms, as well as those that use popular and urban ways of expression, including graffiti and lowrider- and tattoo-culture. Through December 2, 2007. For a PDF of the poster Require Acrobat.
