FW:We're Just One Day Away from Oct. 27
Make a Donation to Help Meet the Large Expenses of the Demonstration
We can't do it
without your donation!
The A.N.S.W.E.R. Coalition has major responsibility for the demonstration, including paying for a large part of the costs of the stage, sound, and setup at the rallies, where the speakers and performers will appear.
We still have to raise thousands of dollars to pay for ANSWER's share of the march and rally expenses.
Please help A.N.S.W.E.R. meet these and other large expenses by clicking here to donate.
We are now just one day away from Oct. 27 - a major day of national protest against the Iraq war. Our sense is that Saturday's demonstration - which is beginning at 11:00 am at Civic Center in San Francisco - will be a large outpouring of opposition to the war.
The upcoming protest in San Francisco has resulted in a remarkable degree of cooperation between a wide variety of progressive organizations, which have come together in the October 27 Coalition. Almost all forces inside the progressive anti-war movement, the impeachment movement, progressive veterans and soldiers' family’s organizations are marching together. There will be different banners and slogans, but it will be a demonstration of unity. And what will be noteworthy is that many, many people will be attending their very first demonstration.
We are appealing to you now because we are facing an urgent situation that requires the help of people like you who have been in the thick of building or supporting the anti-war movement.
While hundreds of organizations are coming together for the San Francisco protest, the ANSWER Coalition has shouldered much of the financial and logistical responsibility for the huge administrative task of set-up for stage, sound, portable toilets, first aid stations, and the myriad of other organizational tasks that are absolutely necessary for the success of a mass demonstration.
We must raise thousands of dollars in the next day to help pay for ANSWER's share of the march and rally expenses. As you know, there will be a rally with well-known speakers, musicians, a symbolic Die-In to illustrate visually the effects of war, and an anti-war convergence. To make sure everyone who comes to the San Francisco protest can hear the program, we have to pay for a professional stage and production team.
We are also helping to organize buses and vans from various areas in Northern California, Oregon, Nevada and elsewhere so that anti-war activists, students and their families can participate in the San Francisco protest.
Today, we are making history just as an earlier generation did when they carried out historic protests against the Vietnam War. We can do this with your help. The self-sacrifice of individual people who understand the importance of this mission is the key. Some people can give a small amount, others can give much more. By doing what you can, the anti-war movement will succeed. It is the equality of sacrifice that matters. Each person giving what they can.
If you have never donated, please do so now. If you helped in the past, there is no time more urgent than right now to make another contribution. You can make an online donation or learn how to send a check by clicking this link. You can also donate over the phone at 415-821-6545.
