Beyond Pigford: Agribusiness Opportunity in the 21st Century
Our 9th Annual, Kwanzaa Ag Expo, November 30 – December 2, 2007, Holiday Inn Capitol Plaza, Sacramento, California continues an effort to expand agribusiness opportunity while sharing our rich agricultural heritage with the world.
Kwanzaa is a spiritual, festive, joyous celebration of the oneness and goodness of life. Kwanzaa celebrates the ‘first fruit of our harvest season”, agriculture is the foundation of our culture. Kwanzaa is a living social practice practiced in our traditional cultures. Our “California Grown” holiday season is a time of remembering, reassessing, recommitting, rewarding and rejoicing.
We will feature exhibits demonstrating technologies that can help developing communities raise farm productivity in environmentally sustainable ways that facilitate local agribusiness opportunities.
Leading edge agricultural technologies will be demonstrated to problem solve unique issues that focus on food safety, conservation, distance learning, sustainable science while preparing for new opportunities available through the 2007 Farm Bill.
The Kwanzaa Ag Expo will be held in conjunction with a concluding round of meetings of food, fuel, forestry, fiber and finance leaders who will introduce the methodology for broader participation within our National Agricultural Black Caucus.
Kwanzaa Ag Expo workshops will feature participants from the fields of agriculture, science and technology, health and environmental justice. We will challenge panelists to expand collective vision in the spirit of Maat, truth, justice and righteousness.
Leaders and technical experts from developing and developed country governments, international organizations, research institutes, universities, foundations and private industry will showcase the benefits of the principles and practice of Kwanzaa.
