Mamaz, Rebel Diaz & The Getback Crew
Saturday November 17, 2007
$10 adv. $12 dr. - 9pm
Mamaz. Bay Area
The Poet and the Scribe. These are ancient roles in society occupied by only the most sensitive, insightful, and vocally powerful individuals. In this sense, the Mamaz fit right into the evolution of hip-hop by re-defining the delivery and the sound. The Mamaz resonate on a higher vibration as they take possession of the stage and the microphone with a cool and fluid grace striking a cord within the listener. For more information on this artist please click here.
Rebel Diaz. Bronx, NY
Using the power of hope and the struggles of the past as inspiration, these sons and daughters of revolutionaries express their wishes and demands for a just and compassionate world. In the streets of every ghetto across the world, one can hear the sound of people fed up with poverty and second-class citizenship. Rebel Diaz arises from these conditions to fan the flames of change through songs that inspire, educate, and celebrate life. For more information on this artist please click here.
The Getback Crew. Bay Area
The Get Back Crew is a collective of six musician-poet-performers who interest themselves in changing the way music is heard. Featuring Daveed Diggs, Rafael "A.D." Casal, A'darius Bell, Nico "N.I.C." Cary, Chinaka Hodge and Producer J-FAB*, The Get Back is easily one of the Bay Area's most promising burgeoning crews. Between them, they have rocked shows from Oakland to Nairobi, from the theatrical stage to Summer Stage, from the SF Opera House to HBO's Def Poetry. Melding Soul, Hip-Hop, R&B, Jazz and Rock with their poetic upbringings, The Get Back's sound is at once raw and familiar. Look for the first Get Back supported album, the debut solo work of Rafael "A.D." Casal in early winter 2007.
