The Sentinel actually reported the ingredient to be "tricaprylyl methyl ammonium chloride"... and not "methyltrioctylammonium chloride". However, the EPA website does say that the two are synonymous (http://iaspub.epa.gov/srs/srs_proc_qry.navigate?P_SUB_ID=129650). Since I'm not a scientist, for all I know, they could be exactly the same thing. But I thought that this distinction should be pointed out just in case. If they are the same thing, then it's definitely worth examining all the warnings and cautions that are mentioned. Thanks for the info.

As "Concerned Commoner pointed out, the two names aren't the same. But the substance with the correct name is just as bad.

And since we're now told that the reported ingredients are "supposedly" wrong, then I suppose there's nothing wrong with listing them all here again. As reported on the front page of The Santa Cruz Sentinel on Sept. 28th:

"According to the EPA, some of the key ingredients are (Z)-11-Tetradecenyl acedtate, 11-Tetradecen-1-ol, acetate, (E)-. Inert Ingredients are water, polyvinyl alcohol, tricaprylyl methyl ammonium chloride, sodium phosphate, and polymethylene polyphenyl isocyanate."

It has been known for a long time now that sprying poison chemicals from air planes is wasteful and destructive of the total ecological green balances and the web of life that depends on the green environment. Not only because of the potency of the poisons sprayed in a particular area but also because the wind blows it around and off the target and into the water, lands and air space that are not on the target. There also is no info about how long the chemical poison molecule will persiist in the environment. Some poisons persist for years after the orignial spraying time is over. Why the withholding of necessary info when the life of the space sprayed hangs in the balance??
