Dr. Tabaré Vázquez, President of Uruguay
The World Affairs Council of Northern California and the Commonwealth Club of California are pleased to welcome his Excellency Dr. Tabaré Ramón Vázquez Rosas, President of Uruguay, to the Bay area. Despite its small size with just under 3.5 million people, Uruguay is a powerful player in Latin American politics and one of the most prosperous and stable countries on the continent. President since 2005, Vázquez is the first Uruguayan president elected from the left since the country's first presidential election in 1984. Vázquez has helped steer his country out of social and economic trouble and has led efforts to strengthen ties between South America and the European Union. Join President Vázquez for a discussion on the issues facing his nation and the world.
A reception with wine and light hors d'oeuvres will take place from 5:30-6:00 PM , Program from 6:00-7:00pm
