Screening and panel discussion of "Fruits of War," a work-in-progress documentary that tells the story of four young men’s struggle to survive when they are deported to El Salvador after spending most of their lives as members of the Mara Salvatrucha (MS 13) and 18th Street gangs. The men share their journeys of self discovery and examine their transformations from members of violent groups, to deportees, to their current and most important role - as peacemakers.

Scheduled panelists are Alex Sanchez of Homies Unidos (one of the men featured in the film); filmmaker Josiah Hooper; Anamaria Loya, executive director of La Raza Centro Legal; and Eddy Zheng, who is facing deportation for criminal convictions from nearly 20 years ago. The panel will be moderated by Patricia Loya, executive director of Centro Legal de la Raza.

Free admission. Food/beverages available for purchase.
