Matt Gonzalez is an activist lawyer, idealistic politician, artist and poet. He served as President of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors and as a public defender and was narrowly defeated in the San Francisco mayor's race as a Green Party candidate. He has worked on issues related to immigration, the environment, tenants' rights, and fair wages among others.
Modeled after one of the most popular courses ever taught at Harvard, Activist Lives is a course open to the public will bring some of the most original and successful activists of our day into conversation with students and others to explore how an engaged, compassionate, transformative life is possible.
