Before the Rainbow Flag: California’s Gay History
Lecture
7:30 p.m.
California's rich history of sexual minorities is traced through lively images and fascinating stories. From the Amazonian Queen Califia, whose name the state bears, to the evolution of same-sex relationships, California has always been a harbinger of sexual bohemia.

Jim Van Buskirk, former director of the James C. Hormel Gay & Lesbian Center at the SF Public Library, is co-author of "Gay by the Bay: A History of Queer Culture in the San Francisco Bay Area," and co-editor of "Love, Castro Street: Reflections of San Francisco." Included with museum admission.
