SF Mime Troupe: Making a Killing, Building A New Iraq
Mime: The Exaggeration of Everyday Life in Story and Song
The San Francisco Mime Troupe (SFMT) performed Making a Killing: Building a New Iraq on Sunday, September 23rd in Santa Cruz. The show scheduled for Saturday was canceled due to rain. Making a Killing follows two army newspaper reporters assigned to write a puff piece on the construction of an American funded hospital in Iraq. But as the facts unravel, it soon becomes clear that there's corruption, death, music and mayhem lurking behind this benevolent-seeming humanitarian project. Back in Washington, Dick and Condi are manipulating intelligence and in Iraq, a cabal of military-industrial-Neo-Con colluders will stop at nothing to hide the shocking truth!
The SFMT creates and produces socially relevant theater of the highest professional quality. Founded in 1959 by R.G. Davis, the company became the San Francisco Mime Troupe in 1961. This has led to a tradition of more than four decades of free outdoor performances using song, dance, music and comedy to enlighten, entertain and provoke.
Grrr-ant writes, "The SF Mime Troupe needs your help! You can be more than a passive consumer. Help make this years SFMT performance a success. Please consider helping the Mime Troupe prepare for their show in San Lorenzo Park. Get to know and support these talented artists and performers. Invite friends and family and see how a cooperative, professional traveling theatre troupe operates. Working with the Mime Troupe is FUN!!!" Read More and Download a Flyer
Robert Norse writes, "Let's stop pretending we're all Progressives watching a Fun Mime Troupe Show about activities 6000 miles away that we all condemn. Instead raise issues for the politicians and their political pals who show up regarding local issues such as Reilly's refusal to meet with Homies for the Homeless around unconstitutional arrests under the Sleeping Ban."
