Trash Orchestra & Mime Troupe Parade - Sunday the 23rd

by Santa Cruz Trash Orchestra (info [at] trashorchestra.org)
Help us destroy the complacency and the eardrums of unsuspecting downtown shoppers as we lead a parade to the SF Mime Troupe's performance of Making a Killing.
Join Trash Orchestra and the San Francisco Mime Troupe for a parade down Santa Cruz' Pacific Ave to a performance in San Lorenzo Park where the legendary mime troupe will offer a late summer performance of Making a Killing.

Meet at the Saturn Cafe Lot for an (unpermitted) parade through downtown to San Lo Park.

Trash Orchestra at City Hall for Police Spying Protest

About Trash Orchestra

Trash Orchestra is a marching percussion band – a bone-shaking recycled orchestra. We make percussion on tuned cans, hubcaps and barrels, drums, pieces of sheet metal, and homemade oddities.

We appear invited and uninvited at protests and celebrations, furors and fracases, anywhere there's a need to make a ruckus, to shout out and help right injustice, suffering, and oppression, to make a big noise to celebrate our victories and our losses.

Get off your ass and join us.

According to Santa Cruz municipal code, a permit for a parade or march is not needed if the organizers expect less than 100 people participating. It is also against American values to get a permit for something which is legal under the Constitution---namely, peaceable assembly, freedom of speech, and the right to redress government grievances.

California State Supreme Court has found that a municipality cannot force people to get a permit for free speech activities, such as music, marches, and protests.

Trash Orchestra will gather there at 1pm and start marching at 1:30 up Pacific to San Lo Park to join the rest of the SF Mime Troupe.

The time. Then maybe an SC-IMC volunteer can update the calendar where the time given is 1:30, not 1pm

We don't need a permit to be free.

If you want to act and be treated like cattle, keep seeking those little pieces of paper from the civic authorities granting you your temporary (but limited) right to assemble and speak freely.
We are 100% volunteer and depend on your participation to sustain our efforts!
