WAR in Santa Cruz: Know Your Rights (9/1)
The police state is global. It extends from the US global war on
terror, to the nationwide war against animal rights and environmental
activists, right down to the local police crackdown on undesirables.
...and against the homeless. In our on-going efforts to fight the downtown police state, Free Skool Santa Cruz teachers will be helping to abolish the Santa Cruz sleeping ban. On Sunday, we are offering a Know Your Rights workshop in front of Bookshop Santa Cruz.
The police state is global. It extends from the US global war on terror, to the nationwide war against animal rights and environmental activists, right down to the local police crackdown on undesirables -- an effort to "clean up" the streets of Santa Cruz of the young, the very old, immigrants, the unemployed, homeless, the insane, and anyone who resists.
The police and the military are the armed thugs of the ruling class. We offer you another tool to add to your arsenal of resistance...
Detentions, arrest, searches, interrogation, jail, warrants, and police infiltration.
Saturday September 1st
1 to 3pm
River Levee near River Street Shopping Monstrosity

The only means of ending oppression of the people by the present established system of social control is through organized power of numbers acting in cohesiveness to take control through the employment of massive general strikes in conjunction with highly trained police advisors recruited from the ranks of police training universities and military academies.
In this way illegitimate power whose basis is constructed from the ideology of business protection and military aggression can be overwhelmed by the masses of oppressed social classes and their allies from the ruling classes who have developed an authentic social consciousness.
The problem is rooted in the ability of established power to use that power to perpetuate itself through murder, imprisonment, and rank terrorization of the society.
Police states use secrecy and false testimony by informants to eliminate potential leaders of revolts and social rebellions. Fear of being targeted by police authorities is an effective brake on most individuals who are not oppressed in a life or death circumstance or condition.
One way of avoiding this problem is to become the police through the electoral process. Gaining power over the administration of police authority by harnessing the electoral method and targeting those institutions that exercise direct police control.
The police are simply a tool of those who wield political and financial power. They are pawns in the dynamics of social control.
Another tool in the arsenal of social change is the boycott. This is what I suggest for the forces of social liberation in Santa Cruz. Boycott all business who are promoting the repression of the poor and the expansion of Bush's anti-human war agenda.
Throw in your lot with the downtrodden, disenfranchised masses and don't buy into the power relationships that tend to make you one of the beneficiaries of economic and social oppression.
