The Silicon Valley Impeachment Coalition (SVIC) and friends met with Meri Maben, Mike Honda's District Director, on August 27th in Campbell, CA. Mike Honda is the "representative" in the US House of Representatives from the 15th District of California (San Jose, Campbell, Los Gatos, Gilroy, Cupertino, Milpitas, Santa Clara).

Ms. Maben was presented with a letter from the SVIC including the following questions:
1) WHY ARE YOU CONTINUING TO SUPPORT AN ILLEGAL WAR OF INVASION AND OCCUPATION BASED ON FABRICATION AND LIES?

2) DESPITE THEIR SEIZURE OF UNCHECKED EXECUTIVE POWER THAT IS EXPRESSLY FORBIDDEN BY THE CONSTITUTION, WHY DO YOU CONTINUE THE DE FACTO PARDON OF CHENEY AND BUSH BY TABLING IMPEACHMENT? WHY ARE YOU JEOPARDIZING THE FUTURE OF OUR REPUBLIC BY YOUR SILENCE?

3) WHAT MORE WOULD CHENEY AND BUSH HAVE TO DO IN ORDER FOR YOU TO SUPPORT THE ARTICLES OF IMPEACHMENT?

In response to whether or not Honda was going to co-sponsor HR 333, Kucinich's bill of impeachment of Veep Dick Cheney, Meri Maben stated that Honda will not sign on for impeachment. Her reasons were that Honda is a Democratic party man and would follow the lead of the party leadership. Gloria Chan, Honda's DC counsel, said that she thought Honda would say that Cheney had committed impeachable offenses and that he should be impeached in a moral sense but not in a legal sense.

Meri Maben spent considerable time trying to sell us on the achievements of the Democratic Congress: Minimum wage legislation, CHIPs legislation, Congressional oversight, the Pat Tillman investigation, pressure on the Executive leading to the resignations of Rumsfeld, Rove and Gonzales. We wondered if she had not heard us; that we are concerned about the fate of our rights under the Constitution, of the Republic, of the nation.

The price for selling us out to corporate interests appears to be a small raise in the minimum wage, more government health care programs, some oversight of the least blatant violations of the criminals in the US government and no allegiance to the Congressional oath of office to uphold and defend the Constitution. The Constitution clearly calls for impeachment given the magnitude of the BushCo. crimes.

We left the meeting feeling like we had driven our message into Honda's staff. We left committed to work for the impeachment of the criminals in the White House and beyond.

1. The minimum wage is an insult to the bay area and does not benefit those that are already within the poverty level ($60,000 per year) based on the standard of living in the Bay Area. California's poverty standard is significantly above the national standard. And that misely raise is not gonna cut it for the greatest number of Californians let alone those in the Silicon Valley. 2. Yes, there was a hearing on the Tillman Case....but there was no resolution to date. 3. The resignation of Rove , Gonzales, etc. manifested by the pressures and lobbying from and by the people to the CONGRESS to ACT and NOT an exclusive by the voluntary action of the Congress. Otherwise, the CONGRESS would have acted voluntarily on its own to do its duty without the influence of those of us who pressured and lobbied them.

Congress is EXPECTED when it took OATH to protect and defend our US Constitution as ONE if not the MOST IMPORTANT role in government. Our Constitution is NON-Negotiable, NON-trasferable and NOT for SALE for those we placed in power. It lives in the CORE of OUR being "AN AMERICAN". WE are NOT subservient to our GOVERNMENT. Those in power in our Government ARE the SERVANT to the PEOPLE. We hold your lack of loyalty to this NATION and your constituent, and OUR US Constitution over politics and political party UNACCEPTABLE.

IN memory of those who fought and died for our Country and for our RIGHTS under our U.S. Constitution, WE THE PEOPLE will hold YOU responsible for your lack of action in doing the same to protect and defend our NATION from high-crimes and abuses. I have written and encourage you to do what is CORRECT for our NATION first and NOT for party loyalty first through this misguided idea of the Speaker of the House. It is either You are with your people and the respect for our Constitution and recognize the growing MOVEMENT to restore our LAWful Nation over "convenience", "time constraint", and other priorities, party loyalty and above for the risk of the greater mass.........that is YOUR choice. Sooner or later,,,,,,ACCOUNTABILITY to the people will catch up to you. I encourage YOU to join your people to save our NATION from further destruction and damage. Support IMPEACHMENT BEFORE the Next President. There is an unprecedent expasion of executive power that has been set in placed that MUST be reversed and illigitimize for the sake of preserving our peoples' rights and preserving the "CHECKS and BALANCES that was the genius of IMPEACHMENT that was created by our founding fathers.

LET US SHOW the WORLD that WE respect our Constitution and WE will not toletrate anyone from destroying it. Otherwise, YOU are setting another precedent that OUR Constitution is nothing but a WORTHLESS,,,,antiquaited useless piece of paper. Pelosi is NOT to tell that impeachment is off the table. The Constitution says that she is as an official of our government has a duty to follow the constitution......TO IMPEACH an overreaching abusive government official. By failing to do her duty IS setting her above the law and the Constituiton. THAT too is an ACT of abuse. Your EMPLOYER (the people) made a clear message in November 2006. Not following through our demands IS like in a business environment an INSUBORDINATION and subject to termination.
We are 100% volunteer and depend on your participation to sustain our efforts!
