Mark your calendars for an exciting event in San Francisco!
AL OTRO LADO / To the Other Side
(dir. Gustavo Loza, 2005, Mexico, 80min)
Writer and director Gustavo Loza, (Atletico San Pancho, ILFF ’06), weaves a heart-wrenching tale that follows the complexities of migration through the eyes of children who have been left behind. Three countries, three cultures, and three realities serve as the stage to delve into the lives of three kids (a Mexican boy, a Cuban boy, and a Moroccan girl), each of whom must endure the absence of their father who has left them in search for a better life. The sense of utter loss stands with the hope for the return of their fathers, regardless of borders and nationalities, race, gender or religion. Gustavo’s cinematic triptych uses a distinctive and unconventional storytelling style to cut between the disparate tales and far-away countries. Mexico’s official selection for the 2006 Oscar for Best Foreign Language film.
* with English subtitles.
ONLY $6 General Admission
$5 ILFF Members/Students/ Seniors/Disabled
