Solo singer-songwriter/activist Steve Taylor-Ramírez brings his critically acclaimed neo-folk, blues and Latin hillbilly tunes back to Berkeley’s Starry Plough Pub on Saturday, Sept. 8.
Taylor-Ramírez, known for his fingerpicking guitar style and socially conscious lyrics, will be joined by award-winning world-beat groovers Fontain's M.U.S.E. playing as a trio with guitars, sitars and tabla. Fontain's M.U.S.E. is a very polished, danceable live act. Their song "Sacred Geometry," from their 2006 Mystic Kiss album, won an honorable mention this year in Billboard’s 14th annual world song contest. Fontain (Riddle) is also host of Diva Radio, which airs late Sunday mornings on KUSF 90.3 FM.
Also on the bill Sept. 8 are The Simple Things, a trio with bass, keyboards and melodica, featuring the soulful vocals of Kaitlin McGaw. The Simple Things have a haunting, dreamlike sound that they call “the punk rock of easy listening.” They play the Fillmore Auditorium poster room and other venues throughout the Bay Area, where crowds love them.
