On August 3rd, student organizers from Making Waves and Youth Speaks will bring together hundreds of young people, community organizers and artists to SF State. The Summit is FREE and provides panels and workshops on social justice, ethnic studies, hip-hop culture and health awareness followed by an Arts Festival featuring conscious Bay Area performers, DJs and artists.
This year the Summit is focused on reclaiming borders and shedding light on divisive practices that are aimed at breaking down our communities. Through workshops, art and performance, the goal of the Summit is to challenge youth to think critically and consciously about their own communities and the world around them and to take an active role in being part of the solution.
