Solidarity Needed for East Bay Garbage Workers
Join the Picket Lines on Saturday, July 21
172 98th Ave, Oakland at Waste Management HQ
6am to Noon
Waste Management made $1.1 billion profit last year. Now it has brought hundreds of scabs to the union towns of the East Bay and locked out 481 Teamsters of Local 70. 80 WM mechanics from IAM Local 1546 and 300 recycling workers from ILWU Local 6 are honoring their picket lines in an inspiring show of solidarity. Many unions and community members are answering the Alameda Labor Council's call by contributing to the unions’ hardship fund and walking the picket lines.
On Saturday, July 21st, ISO members will be joining locked out workers on the picket lines at 98th Avenue in Oakland and we hope you come along.
We’ll be going in two shifts, from 6am to 9am and from 9am to Noon. If you’d like to join us as an individual or bring along members from your group, please let us know so we can help arrange car-pools and give the Labor Council as accurate a count as possible about how many people to expect.
Or you can contact the Labor Council directly to let them know you are coming on this day or any other day by emailing Wendall Chin at wendallchin [at] alamedalabor.org

WE ENCOURAGE ALL LABOR AND SOCIAL JUSTICE ORGANIZATIONS TO FOLLOW SUPPORT THE GARBAGE WORKERS BY ADOPTING A PICKET LINE ASAP.
