Elizabeth Stone, editor of Pathfinder Press book "Women and the Cuban Revolution," will speak on:
Women's political leadership in the revolutionary struggle that led to the 1959 victory over the US-backed dictator Batista was weightier than in any other popular revolution the world has yet known. This was followed by a transformation in the social and economic status of women that continues to unfold in Cuba today.
Stone will review the contributions of Vilma Espin, a leader of revolutionary struggles of the 1950s and long-time president of the Federation of Cuban Women, who died June 18 in Havana.
Sponsor: Militant Labor Forum (dinner at 6:30pm)
