Book reading by Richard D. Vogel
The war against Mexican migrant workers in the United States has a long history and this ghost from the past is haunting American today. This book looks at the history of the relationship between the United States and Mexico including Indian wars and the role of slavery in the South and its connection to the exploitation of Mexican workers. According to Vogel, a prime factor in the invasion of Mexico was the pressure to defend and expand the southern empire of slavery in the U.S. This history is vital to understand in the context of the attack on Latino workers in the United States today.
