A discussion of the predicted effects of global warming on California. Climate change expert Lisa Sloan and green technology proponent Steve Westly will be the keynote speakers.
In addition, Acting UCSC Chancellor George Blumenthal and student activist Tommaso Boggia will discuss the greening of UCSC. They will showcase the campus's use of green technology and UCSC's emergence as a leader of the sustainability movement.
They will also discuss the reasons behind the cancellation of the biofuel program for UCSC buses, and the role that 'greenwashing' plays in the environmental debate.
Be sure to get tickets (free) in advance, and ride your bike (critical mass?)
