Silent Auction and Dance Party to benefit the after-school program at El Dorado Elementary

8 pm - 1:30 pm

Mighty 119 Utah St. SF, CA
$7 before 9 pm
$12 - $20 sliding scale after

THE CAUSE
In this age of "no child left behind," funding for arts and music in public schools has been drastically cut. For many students, these programs provide a much-needed escape from the rest of their lives. At El Dorado Elementary, which serves the areas around the Sunnydale housing projects, we are trying to expose students to a myriad of artistic genres and give them tools to express themselves creatively throughout the rest of their lives.

The after-school program serves over one-third of the school population and is one place these student can experience classes in music, dance, theater, art, and environmental education. For the 2007 - 2008 school year we are planning to offer instruction on hip-hop (taught by Sisterz of the Underground), Planet Art, Tree Frog Treks, drumming, and digital photography.

These classes were not available this year, partially because our after-school funding has been at an all-time low. All proceeds from this event will go directly into funding these programs.

THE CELEBRATION
Come early for the seven-piece El Dorado All Stars band, featuring John Calloway playing Latin and Cuban favorites. As the night progresses, get your groove on with live trio Brian Jordan & Friends starring the guitar genius himself. They will join San Francisco's finest DJ's J Tonal & Ribotto (New School Hip-Hop/Live Keys), Majitope (FunkDubTechHouse), and James Christopher with vocalist Audio Angel (Drum & Bass) keepin' the beats hard and the dance floor hot. Expect a thrilling appearance by S.F. b-girls Extra Credit (Sisterz of the Underground).

Hyptnotic visuals provided by Kaia.

All proceeds will go towards funding art, music, and environmental education classes offered in El Dorado Elementary's after-school program. Make an impact! Make a direct effect!
