It's 1899 in NYC and Pulitzer and Hearst have raised newspaper prices, enraging the already struggling newspaper boys (or newsies). Inspired by recent labor strikes, the newsies join forces and call a strike of their own, spontaneously busting out into song and dance against "The Man"
It's June 2nd, 2007 at 12:00noon at Union Square in San Francisco and a mass of people have joined together in flashmob fashion to celebrate their love of the movie/musical - "Newsies" - as well as send the kind of message of solidarity and justice that is simply timeless.
What is a flash mob? It's a gathering of random people in a public place to perform something unusual and then disperse quickly.
Please see our myspace page, be our friend and let us know if you have any questions.
Lyrics can be found on the myspace page blog and should be printed out and brought to the event.
Wait for the fog horn and two whistles. Someone will be there to prompt you.
