Apply to Become a Volunteer at SF Women Against Rape!

SFWAR seeks compassionate people who want to:
* Support survivors of sexual assault
* Challenge all forms of oppression that contribute to sexual assault
* Develop valuable counseling and leadership skills
* Working/in and from mulit-lingual communities
* Be a part of an inspiring community working for social justice!
Bi-cultural/Bi-lingual volunteers especially needed. People of color, youth, transgender and genderqueer, immigrant, elderly, queer, working class, and differently-abled individuals are encouraged to apply for participation in our volunteer trainings. You must be 18 or over to apply. MLAM stipend is available for bi-cultural/bi-lingual volunteers. We have volunteer opportunities available in these areas:

o Peer counselors staff the 24-hour hotline, conduct in-person counseling sessions, support groups, and counsel surivors in the hospital.
Organizational Support
o Community Outreach: Community outreach volunteers do grassroots outreach in san francisco including: tabling at community events, presenting workshops, creating podcasts, research, working with community groups to support grassroots efforts to end and prevent violence.
o Sexual Assault Community Fundraising: Community fundraising volunteers work on SFWAR special events like Dine for a Change and Artists Against Rape.
o Administative: data entry, organizing resources, research, etc.
Our volunteers constantly tell us that they grow enormously, both personally and politically,from the volunteer training and find the work to be tremendously important and rewarding.
