Two of the most amazing films of the GDI Summer Series are both about an hour long.  So we chose to create the strangest double bill ever.  Both films are inspiring documentaries about living life as an adventure on one's own terms.

Santa Cruz Guerilla Drive-In Presents...

Kon Tiki
and

Style Wars

Friday May 25th, 8:00pm
Railroad Tracks at Fair Ave, Santa Cruz
(Always Free!)

The most unusual double bill ever. Kon Tiki is the Oscar award-winning chronicle of Thor Heyerdahl's hand-built raft expedition and high-seas adventure from Peru to Tahiti in an attempt to demonstrate that the inhabitants of the South Sea Islands could have migrated from South America. Style Wars, filmed in New York in 1982, documents a number of young graffiti artists who were transforming the city - and the subway - with their unique art.

PLUS an intermission, urban wasteland, and great company.

BRING low folding chairs, blankets, pillows, friends, food & drink to share for intermission. Donations are greatly appreciated and directly support the project.

SANTA CRUZ GUERILLA DRIVE-IN is an outdoor movie theater under the stars that springs up in the fields and industrial wastelands.  Beyond showing great movies and bringing a broad community together, part of our mission is helping reclaim public space and transforming our urban environment into a joyful playground.

URBAN WASTELAND LOCATION:  S on Hwy 17 to Hwy 1, Hwy 1 north to Mission St, L on Fair Ave after Feral Donuts, walk a short way along the RR tracks to the right.
