Oak to Ninth Referendum:
How can a Valid City Ordinance be Based on an Invalid Document?

Sunday, May 13, 2007
5:00 - 6:30 PM

"When you sign a petition to put an issue on the ballot, do you
read the whole thing, including all the attachments? Have you ever
met someone who does? Would it bother you if a thousand-page
petition was missing some inconsequential pages? What about our
elected officials, the people we pay to write and enact laws --
should they read a proposed law in its entirety before approving it?"

So begins Robert Gammon's wonderful expose in the East Bay Express
this week -
"Oak to Ninth Yin-Yang:
How can a valid city ordinance be based on an invalid document?"
By Robert Gammon, April 25, 2007

At our next Green Sunday, our attorney, Stuart Flashman, as well as
John Sutter and Wilson Riles Jr will give you the inside view of the
ongoing battle of the Oak to Ninth Referendum Committee to get the
petitions that were circulated and turned in last summer counted. Our
lawsuit seeks to bring the "Wall Off the Waterfront" Signature
Properties development proposal which passed the Oakland City Council
last July (or did it?) before Oakland's voters.

Please come and bring your questions because as always, our speakers
will be interested in a dialogue.

Beverages and snacks will be provided.

LOCATION: Niebyl-Proctor Library, 6501 Telegraph Ave.,

DIRECTIONS: One block north of Alcatraz on the West side of Telegraph,
