Will Nuclear Waste be Shipped on Central Valley Rail Lines?
Last week, in a presentation at CSU-Fresno about the proposal to build a nuclear power plant in this community, it was reveled that there are plans to ship nuclear waste products up the Central Valley on the railroad lines. David Weisman is seen in the 5:42 minute video below speaking at the forum - The Cost of Nuclear Energy: What’s Really at Stake? What he says is that if Yucca Mountain is opened, nuclear power from around the country will go right through Fresno.

common sense tells us that the rich a-holes trying to put a nuclear power plant in fresno need to be stopped. they aren't doing this for fresno they are doing this for their own profit. with a bill in the CA legislature to lift the moratorium (and with the nuclear group having the money and political connections to push it through or reissue it again and again until it gets through) this is not some far away possibility that will never really happen... unless the people of fresno act now, make their voices heard and opposition known.
members of the c.a.f.e. infoshop are looking to work with other folks in fresno to build a consensus-based anti-nuclear coalition. we will be meeting sunday may 6th at 3 pm at the infoshop. 935 F street in chinatown. community members are welcome and encouraged to take part in protecting fresno's future.
