Lawrence Livermore Labs is the nation’s most active center for nuclear research, design and production of nuclear weapons. It’s also the site from which many of the missiles for the so-called Missile Defense Program have been launched, and is a frequent target for large public protests. At the May 15 WILPF meeting, Jedidjah de Vries of Tri-Valley CAREs, a citizens’ watch group which keeps a sharp eye on the Labs, will speak about what’s currently happening and being proposed by the U.S. Defense Department for the work of LLL.
Join us on Tuesday, May 15, at 7 P.M., at the Quaker Meeting House, 225 Rooney St., Santa Cruz; all WILPF meetings are free and open to the public.
