Join curators Isabelle Massu and Dore Bowen as well as guest Tarek el-Ariss, lecturer at NYU on Literature, Media, and Middle Eastern Studies, for a panel discussion concerning the current exhibition Not Given: Talking of and around Photographs of Arab Women. Massu and Bowen will discuss the influences that led to the development of the installation and share their story of working with the fascinating photographic archive of Beirut's Arab Image Foundation. El-Ariss, born in Beirut and now living in New York, will debut and discuss his video work about longing for home and family and the desire for security from afar. All three will engage in a conversation about the role that photography plays in cross-cultural dialogue today.
