UNITE-HERE, the food service workers' union, is sponsoring a community forum to discuss the poor working and living conditions among immigrant cafeteria workers in the high-tech/bio-tech corridor of the South Bay. food service workers in Silicon Valley, working as subcontractors through the private corporation Guckenheimer Enterprises, in the cafeterias of such large companies as Genentech, Electronic Arts, and Broadcom, are organizing for a living wage, affordable health care, and respect on the job. they are calling on these huge tech companies to pass a "Code of Conduct" which will assure that companies like Guckenheimer will have to provide a livable wage and better conditions in its cafeterias.
