Holy Thursday/Passover Airport Action!
Serve Passenger Service Workers:
April 5, Thurs, 10-12pm
OAKLAND AIRPORT, curbside btw Terminals 1 & 2
** Shuttles to Airport leave from ILWU 6 lot
(99 Hegenberger Rd) from 9:30-10am.
RSVP your spot to Wendall Chin @ 510 632 4242 x222 or wendallchin [at] alamedalabor.org
At the Oakland Airport, Aviation Safeguards passenger service workers like Marina Neri and her coworkers serve our community by carrying luggage, assisting the elderly, people who use wheelchairs and others needing assistance, and keeping us safe when we travel by screening passengers.
Aviation Safeguards fails to honor the service of these workers by paying low wages without quality affordable health care, no sick days, and constant shift changes that make raising a family difficult. When workers stand together to form a union, they report being harassed and intimidated by management.
Join SEIU Local 1877, the East Bay Interfaith Committee for Worker Justice, and the
Alameda Labor Council in sending a message of unity to the Port of Oakland - Aviation Division, and Aviation Safeguards management, at a peak (Spring Break) travel season.
At the action, clergy will lead us in an interfaith ceremony to honor the service & courage of these workers and call for justice on the days of Passover & Holy Week.
