Palo Alto: Free Forum - "Inside Iran"
900 San Antonio Rd., Palo Alto
(Wheelchair accessible)
A conversation with
Dr. Ali Ferdowsi
Chair, Political Science Department
University of Notre Dame de Namur
As the Bush administration ratchets up the threats against Iran, most Americans have little idea of what is really happening within Iranian society. Dr. Ferdowsi, a native of Iran, spends at least a hundred days each year there, talking to people about their political beliefs and their hopes and fears for the future. This ancient, vibrant culture, still not fully accessible due to government censorship, is alive with its own growing movements for democracy, equality, and reform.
Please join us for this inside look at Iran in order to gain an understanding of the country and the people whom our government seems intent on attacking next. We owe it to ourselves, and to the Iranian people, to have a deeper understanding beyond media images.
Free and open to the public. The program will be broadcast and webcast live on Mid-Peninsula Community Media Cable Channel 27 and rebroadcast throughout April as part of the ongoing "Other Voices" television series produced by Peninsula Peace and Justice Center.
