In the Shadow of the Palms – IRAQ
Internationally Award-Winning “In the Shadow of the Palms - Iraq”, the only documentary filmed in Iraq prior to, during and after the U.S. invasion. Join us for an introduction and update by Richard Becker of the ANSWER Coalition on the war in Iraq and the role of the anti-war movement.
The feature length documentary film on the Iraq war, In the Shadow of the Palms - Iraq, has been described as a ‘humane and profoundly authentic’ portrayal of the struggles of the people of Iraq through this tumultuous war. The film documents the lives of ordinary people preparing for the war in the months leading up to the invasion and shows the brutal and indiscriminant ‘shock and awe’ bombing of Baghdad. The filmmaker returns to document how the peoples’ lives have changed under the US-led occupation. 2005, 90 min.
