ICE Raids Draw Huge Protests in Marin County
Today, March 9th, members of Marin Peace & Justice Coalition and other groups staged protests of about 100 people at the corner of Irwin and 4th Streets in downtown San Rafael to express solidarity with San Rafael's immigrant groups and outrage at Gestapo-like tactics of ICE in its recent raids here.
ICE raids in Marin County were successful at netting a few undocumented workers and garnering tremendous outrage from a community that staged massive protest rallys in Marin's streets last May 1.
Federal tactics that demonstrated incredible insensitivity (a seven year boy was hauled off in handcuffs) will undoubtedly result in the favoring of candidates who oppose such police state tactics in the looming elections.
