Tell Bush: Support California Farm Workers!
Farm workers desperately need your help. It's been more than two month's since January's devastating freeze. Approximately 28,000 citrus farm workers may be left jobless--just in Calif.'s San Joaquin Valley alone. These workers are having difficulty feeding their families and paying their rent or mortgages. These low paid workers who have very little savings may be out of work for the next 9 to 12 months. They desperately need federal emergency aid.
Farm workers are holding vigils. You can help. Join their virtual vigil by sending an e-mail today!

The President?s signature on the Federal Emergency Management Agency's (FEMA) certification is the last step needed to bring in federal relief funds, which would benefit thousands of citrus farm workers and their families devastated by this year's freeze. Calif. Governor Schwarzenegger asked the President to declare California a federal disaster area on Feb. 2. President Bush still has not responded.
On Monday, U.S. Senators Barbara Boxer and Dianne Feinstein (both D-CA) along with California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger sent a second letter to President Bush pushing the critical need for federal relief. Last Friday, Presidential Candidate John Edwards spent time with citrus workers and then wrote President Bush a letter declaring that he take immediate action.
Citrus workers have been holding vigil sit-ins since Monday in all Central Valley's Congressional offices and the Governor's office asking them to push the federal government to declare California a federal disaster area. Join their protest virtually by sending President Bush an e-mail today and tell him to immediately declare California a federal disaster area.
