PRAXIS is a party to raise funds for the legal defense fund of Agustin Aguayo,
an Iraq War Veteran and Conscientious Objector, who is currently imprisoned for
refusing to redeploy to Iraq, and for Courage to Resist, an Oakland group that
supports soliders who refuse to fight.
Agustin Aguayo is a 35 year old Army Medic and Conscientious Objector (CO) who
was deployed to Iraq in 2004. During his year long duty in Iraq he refused to
load his weapon. For three years he fought for CO status. When faced with a
second deployment he went AWOL eventually turning himself in to the Army
voluntarily. He is now imprisoned in a military jail in Germany. His court
martial is March 6th. Agustin faces 7 years for desertion and missing
movement and a felony conviction.
Courage to Resist is a grassroots organization committed to mobilizing support
for brave individuals like Suzanne Swift, Ivan Brobeck, Lt. Ehren Watada, and
Darrell Anderson. Please read about Agustin and other resisters on
