On February 9th, Alameda County Judge Smith ruled against the Police Review Commission, essentially banning open hearings regarding police misconduct and blocking the public's access to records of police misconduct.
This decision not only disempowers the community that, in 1973, voted to create public civilian oversight of the police, but also prioritizes police secrecy over public safety.
It is essential for the community to come together and take action against this blow to public safety and police accountability. Join Copwatch in strategizing for the future of police accountability!!
