Hey there's me with my "NO WAR WITH IRAN" sign!
I studied Farsi about seventeen years ago when I was in college in Los Angeles and met so many people in the local Iranian-American community. But my Farsi has gotten pretty rusty since then (or "Farsi-am nam keshide-ast", if I am remebering the words correctly).
A couple walked up to me who said they were Assyrian, not Iranian, but they spoke Farsi. They said "that's not Farsi, is that Urdu? Are you Afghani? An Iranian wouldn't say it that way. Did you just look up the words in a Farsi dictionary?"
Well, I basically remembered some persian words and tried to make a word-for-word translation from English.
So, I apologize to all Farsi speakers for making a mess of your language--my sign was really about not letting the U.S. make the kind of mess of Iran that it already has in Iraq!
