Monterey Bay Residents Urge Rep. Farr and Senators Boxer and Feinstein to Stop Bush Escalation of Iraq War
“Emergency Rallies to Stop Iraq Escalation” In Santa Cruz, Salinas, and Monterey Among Hundreds Held Nationwide
Monterey Bay – This Thursday, January 11, at 6:00 p.m., local families will rally in front of Sam Farr’s office in Salinas, and in downtown Santa Cruz and Monterey to urge Rep. Farr and Senators Barbara Boxer and Dianne Feinstein to stop President Bush’s escalation of the Iraq War.
These “Emergency Rallies To Stop Iraq Escalation” are among hundreds being held nationwide by members of MoveOn.org and the America Says No! Coalition, including United for Peace and Justice, Code Pink, Democracy for America, American Friends Service Committee, Sojourners, U.S. Labor Against the War, and others.
Santa Cruz resident Annie Kelly will be taking a photo petition gathered by MoveOn members and a community scrapbook with poems, flyers and photos from local peace actions to Rep. Farr in Washington.
Iraq escalation has been rejected by voters, the bipartisan Iraq Study Group, Colin Powell, and many military generals. A December CNN Poll showed that only 11% of Americans support Bush’s plan for escalation. MoveOn represents 3.2 million members nationwide.
