Indigenous People's Day at Alcatraz

Date:
Thursday, November 23, 2006
Time:
5:00 AM - 5:00 AM
Event Type:
Vigil/Ritual
Organizer/Author:
Location Details:
The first 2 times are sold out, and the next available
one is at 5:15 am.

the 5:15 departure n boards from
4:45 to 5 am.

i thought that the person who sent this to a list I'm on said this very nicely.

For over 30 years Indigenous Peoples have been
gathering on Alcatraz on the "thanksgiving day"
holiday for a sunrise service.

If you are interested in joining me to show support
for the original hosts of the immigrants from Europe,
there are still tickets available.

The event usually seems to draw about 3000 people, so
if you want to go, get those tickets now.

Here is a link to more info, but note that the ferry
service is now Alcatraz Tours and not the Blue and
Gold, as this site lists it.

There are several ferrys leaving during the morning.
The first 2 times are sold out, and the next available
one is at 5:15 am.

I will be on the 5:15 departure, which boards from
4:45 to 5 am.

If you would like to join me, please purchase your
ticket at

https://www.alcatrazcruises.com/website/buy-tickets.aspx

then email me to let me know to expect you.

We can make arrangements to find each other on board,
or in line.

I believe there is still a strike going on regarding
the ferry workers treatment under the new tour
operator.

It is not my habit to cross picket lines, but in the
case of 500 year old injustices vs a few weeks old
injustice, I am electing to support those who have
suffered the longest.
