Un-Thanksgiving Day - the right of the First People in this land.
Un-Thanksgiving Day is round the corner for the First People. On this day the First People of this land will remember the "injustices" meted out to them every single day. In the 2006 there is no way for so many tribes not to be Federally Recognized and be given their rights. There is no way for so many Tribes to be on Reservations and others in other States - sent by the U.S. government suffering away from their Tribal Regions - because they were shipped away and now are so poor that they cannot visit their homeland - right here in the United States.
All over California most Tribes recognized and those not recognized by the U.S. will be gathering to remember Unthanksgiving Day.
Every year, Tribes gather and take a ferry to Alcatraz Island in San Francisco in the wee hours of the morning - there on the Island - the Great Unthankgiving Ceremony takes place.
It is a shame that in 2006 the injustice meted out to the First People still goes on.
The U.S. Government can spend Billions fighting a losing and unnecessary war but cannot deal with the First People. This inspite of stealing the land from the First People and killing the First People.
First they stole the land, then the killed the First People, then the polluted the land. They killed the Buffalo - just for the sake of killing them.
The now continue to pollute and kill - not only here in the United States but abroad.
The Day of Unthanksgiving is to remind those that care - about Mother Earth.
The Day of Unthanksgiving is a day to remind the polluters and the killers the plight of their philosophy and the depth of their sickness.
In the Bayarea some have taken upon themselves to bring about healing. They walk from Shellmound to Shellmound.
The Shellmounds are Sacred Burial Sites.
This healing has brought about results. It has helped unite all " First People" - those from the Bayarea and those that were shipped to California from other Tribal Reservations.
On Unthanksgiving Day many go to Alcatraz and stand united. United they pledge respect for the Great Spirit and Mother Earth:
